Course Description
CS 3653: Discrete Mathematics. Prerequisites: MATH 2145 (Calculus I)
Theory and applications of discrete mathematical models fundamental to analysis of problems in computer science. Set theory, formal logic and proof techniques, relations and functions, combinatorics and probability, undirected and directed graphs, Boolean algebra, switching logic.

Homework, Quizzes and Exams
Each homework assignment is due before the following lecture.
There will be six quizzes; the lowest score will be dropped.
No makeup quiz will be given.
There will be one seventy-five minute exam (mid-term)
and a final exam. Tentative Date for the mid-term exam is Thursday, March 13. and the final exam is scheduled on Monday April 28, 10:00 - 11:50 AM in the regular meeting place.
No makeup for the mid-term will be given. If you have conflicts on
the final exam, please follow the University guidelines.
Also, tentatively, a quiz will be given every other Thursday starting on January 17. The first quiz after Spring Break will be April 3.
Grading
The course grade is based on the homework (25%), quizzes (25%),
mid-term exam (20%), and the final exam (30%).
The passing letter-grade is determined by the following partition of the course grades:
D: [60, 70); C: [70, 80); B: [80, 90); and A: [90, 100]
